Knotty Thursday: Pool Blue Chain Stitch

I feel like a sleepy angel in my favorite-color ropes that are long enough for me! This could have been tighter and more careful, but they made for such a hot and cozy night with myself.

I love the moment in some self-tie sessions when I feel just a whoosh of swollen wetness, an absolute slick of comfort. I had plans to lay around and read (and I eventually did) but the pair of ropes at my crotch had other ideas. I liked tangling them up with my clit, a rough pinch that made me feel potent. I felt big and mighty, like I imagine a man might with his dick in his hands.

I wanted to send the picture above (and its more explicit versions) to one of the sweethearts in this story, but I didn't. It was my night and I made the most of it--a little lonely, but good practice being devoted to myself. Good practice being present where I am instead of waiting for the ping of approval that might or might not arrive. Instant approval is better sometimes, and so is sleep.

Knotty Thursday: Mermaid of Lowkey Pining

Good morning sunbeams! Last night was so lovely, I just got all cozy and confined and read some books in bed. I love the ritual of making this time for myself--lighting candles and burning rose incense. Not even music this time, just me and the ropes.

I didn't feel like looking anything up, but this felt like a good way to keep practicing my chain stitch. And! I can do an alpine loop without looking it up now! For the most part! Somewhat-daily knot practice is paying off.

I still miss Sweet Valentine so much, it's hard not to rehearse for rejection or reach out and try to get his attention. Giving us both space to reflect is kind and loving, but I hate it and wish it could be over already. I hate living in uncertainty, but it's very good for me to practice. I guess if my heart misses him all month long, that's some information for me.

I have the dating apps paused for now too--not because I'm waiting for him (I'm kind of waiting for him.) but because I don't want to do the addictiony thing of trying to "fix" one set of feelings with another. I want to be present with myself and feel all the things! Mostly I want to feel trust and self-love. Sometimes I even feel serene.

Lastly guess what! I ordered longer, goddess-sized ropes! They're turquoise and should arrive on Friday! I can't believe it's taken me this long to realize it would be nice to have bigger ropes for my great big body! That feels like love.

Calling Out to Myself: A Solo Adventure

One of my Codependents Anonymous friends suggested this and I love it so much. It's hard and takes discipline to love myself instead of focusing on what's lost, but every once in a while I can feel it pay off in progress and peace.

Last week was a week of continued self care and good decisions, including an inbox abundant with dick pics (One million heart-eyes emojis) and fantasy flirting with all kinds of beautiful dears. None of them ended up suitable for in-person-I'm (mostly) actively trying to avoid any more fuckboys or overly complicated situations, but they were all dear, and they all made me feel glowy and flowy.

So Saturday afternoon, with nothing on the schedule til dancing o' clock, I took myself to bed. Pleasure felt a little out of reach at first, what with intrusive thoughts about how much more desirable Yoga Camp Hottie is than me. Plus, my Rabbit conked out a while back and I'm still getting used to (getting friendly with) my new one.

But I told YCH and her boyfriend to fuck off out of my brain for a while, and got myself to the pink sparkly glowy haze eventually.

And! When I was coming! I cried out:

"I love you! I love you! Oh! I love you!

That's happened with partners before, of course (Especially The Shy One, oh boy!) but I don't usually form ANY words while I'm getting myself off, let alone THOSE words.

It felt like such a release! Like those words had been waiting on my tongue to be hollered out, waiting maybe for a lifetime.

And yes, I was probably saying it to past and recent loves, to the gods and goddesses, to the sky and the trees and the flowers, but the important thing is! I was saying it, sighing it, to me! Oh my goodness!

Sometimes the feeling of having to love myself feels frustrating and lonely, but on good days, it makes me feel treasured, important, chosen. All those things I'm absolutely desperate to get from men, that keep me away from the men probably, I'm able to give myself. It was real. I heard myself breathe out the words in pleasure.

I love you.

Typing that gave me a warmth that started in my belly/soul and spread outwards. Maybe someday a partner will meet me in this place of self-love, but for now I'm happy and curious to practice on my own. Just like I practice my ropes! :)

Knotty Thursday: Ribcage Harness and a Cozy Read

I've done this one a couple times before, but this time is special! I'm practicing it so I can teach it to Dreamy Playlist Angel next time we hang out! It's one of the easiest ones to practice on myself, but I look forward to trying the cute weave that Rory does in the back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADN90FVYty0

It's been a few weeks since I did my Wednesday night ritual, and it made my brain feel...organized. Serene. Grounded. I just got a bunch of candles out of the Christmas stuff, so I had the scents of raspberry, cupcakes, and sangria all at once. Sweetness all around.

Some rope nights are about ravishing myself in all the ways, but this was more of a spa-evening. I brought a cute book upstairs to read, my favorite romcom author.

My smaller cat doesn't need to be crated during ropes, and it was lovely having her snuggle up to my face while I was reading. I spent the evening feeling cozy and celebrated, and then I slept so, so well.

Knotty Thursday: Better Ankle Weave!!!

Confesh: I called in late to work so I could stay home and look at how pretty these pictures are. I love, love, love my new ropes routine! I watch my tutorial, put Youngest Cat in her crate, bring snacks and water and a gummy upstairs and then just tie and lounge. Sometimes it's sexytimes, but I like just having a peaceful little slumber party with myself too. When the ropes are neatly untangled and put away, both my cats get special food, it's a whole celebration.

I went to the doctor this week and found out I might have a tiny fracture in my heel. Sadly, I think I remember when it happened--just stepped down into the pool wrong in like mid-July. I'm trying to get out of the habit of feeling ancient, but some days I truly do feel like I'm turning into dust.

Also! When I tell a medical professional I take lots of walks, I would LOVE to not hear a surprised/condescending "Oh, that's good!" as if I recently discovered the concept of walking after 51 years of life!

Anyway my foot will need to be babied for a while, so these might come in handy for more than just Wednesday nights! :D

Knotty Thursday: Ankle Weave

For some reason, the end of summer always makes my feet hurt. So I decided to give them a little treat! I think I could do these a lot prettier, but this was a great first try! Here's the tutorial if you want to try for yourself:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsuZi9f4ul8

This tie felt more soothing than sexy, I liked taking a gummy and laying there feeling cozy, just playing scrabble on my phone and listening to an episode of You Are Good.

I'm so happy to be back to this routine! Summer-to-fall is always a rough nervous-system transition for me--all the changing schedules and routines!!! So it feels healing to put this time aside to be kind and romantic with myself. Thanks for being here with me, I always appreciate the company.

Knotty Thursday: A Little Carried Away

I think this is so pretty! But I need to be a bit more disciplined next time! Sometimes I just get in the flow and keep braiding, weaving, and knotting, and then it's hard to get out of!

And okay, my right arm got the teeeeensiest bit tingly, so I couldn't lay around in the ropes as much as I like to--next time!

But it was really nice to come back to my ropes, to light some candles and incense (rose) and turn out all the lights. I tried music, but silence was nicer.

Simple Ropes and a Very Forward Phone Date

So I've been trying to have more self-date nights and I've been watching romantic movies as part of Relationship OCD exposure therapy (Not that I wouldn't be watching them anyway! This way just has the added benefit of being homework.) That's how I ended up watching This Is Me...Now, J-Lo's Lemonade-type thing. (I also watched The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the making-of doc, which is a lot about Ben Affleck seeming uncomfortable.)

Anyway, This Is Me...Now has a shibari-themed dance number! And that reminded me that OMG I have ropes!

By the time it was self-date o' clock on Saturday, I thought I was maybe too stoned to accomplish ropes, but then I opened the drawer and saw them--peace wooshed over me and I felt a grounding I didn't know I was missing. So I crated up the kitten (Now fully a cat, but you know, little baby forever!) and gave it a try.

I would like to have done something more elaborate, but it felt so good!

I was texting with a potential FWB (Not the matchup I usually look for, but I liked his face.) and decided to tell him what I was doing, offered him a pic. He said sure and offered a dick pic in return--so cute! Nice and thick with a pointy tip I would love to tickle with my tongue.

Somehow I was cozy and self-contained but also sexting this guy I've never met or even talked to! Not my usual order of operations, but sometimes it's just really nice to have somebody look at my rack! For a cute man to see my nipples hard and discuss them in detail.

It was fun to type, "Yes, suck them hard, but not too hard."

The guy, the ropes, and the Rabbit (and okay probably the weed gummies too) brought me so quickly to deep, rumbling bliss. It was one of those orgasms so powerful that it felt like I either might squirt or unlock the deepest secrets of the universe. I thanked my stranger for helping me come so hard. I felt wired for the rest of the night, restless.

Knotty Thursday: Ribcage Harness

Well, it's supposed to look like a ribcage, but every harness just looks like fancy boobs on me. I remember doing this one on The Good Boy way back when, it was nice having that memory for company!

Happy Halloween dears!

Merry Tinsel Shibari to You!

I wanted to write a whole thing about Elfness and darkness and pleasure and melancholy, but I got a cold for Christmas so my head is all fuzzy.

I'm profoundly grateful for self-tie nights, for this lavish way of loving myself. And I'm profoundly grateful to you, for rooting for me and for giving me a safe place to show off! Wishing you every magical thing, this week, next year, and forever.

Frilly Friday: Hi Barbie! And a New Friend for The Drawer!

I made this nightie part of my going-to-see-the-Barbie-movie, along with a turquoise sports bra (This has been my summer of Sports Bra as Shirt! It feels so good, especially the breeze on my shoulders!) and a long pink tutu. Barbie night was one of the happiest nights of my life, one I still don’t have the chill to put into words.

Last night was a happy one too! I was gonna use a picture I already had this week, but the old picture didn’t have the amount of over-the-top femmeness I wanted, so oh darn I had to put it on!

I wasn’t really in the mood for a self-date, I was headachey, pondering a graduation from Summer Therapist (I did it this morning! I’m really proud and it might be a good story for another day!) and I was working on a puzzle that was making my brain itch. (That fucker went back in the box this morning, unfinished! I’ll put a warning sticky note when I drop it off at the Little Free Puzzle Library!)

But by the time I had the picture the way I wanted it (I literally JUST learned how to use the timer on my camera’s phone. In the year of our lord 2023. Better late than never?) the soft lace had worked its magic on me. The push-pull of the day left my body and time slowed down. The power of pink lace got me present.

I haven’t been able to find my rose quartz face roller anywhere, so I bought a new one a few weeks ago—I didn’t realize I’d gotten a vibrating one! I had it on the nightstand waiting for relaxation purposes, so this was the perfect time. It felt like such a lovely release for my poor tense face! And when I got to my mouth, it changed to a different kind of release!

I’m sad that I don’t have anybody to kiss at the moment (Just turned the apps back on Monday!) but it’s cool to think of ways to include my mouth in self-love times! I definitely slept well last night and I woke up full of sass and forward momentum and optimism.

Knotty Thursday: Pretty Armor for My Heart

Last night was my first try at a new tie in a while, and it felt so good! I need to practice weaving on some less-curvaceous part of me, because it keeps looking bunched up! Plus I had to keep it loose because it's so close to my neck and I was on my own. But still, I felt gorgeous! Here's the how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfuGMaqXyKo

Because it was a neck one, it wasn't a lounge-around-for-a-while situation, but something even more exciting happened!! While I was puttering around afterwards, having a snack and getting ready for bed, I had the "I love you" thought--and it was directed at myself! I'm not sure when's the last time I felt that way about a self-date, but it's been at least months. It feels pretty great to be reunited with myself and with my friends the ropes. I've already got something picked out for next Wednesday night!

After I got everybody untangled and put away, I gave myself a treat: Paid for a month of Feeld so I could see my likes. Maybe I'll find a nice casual good boy to practice on? That would be a treat! :D

I'm sorry the back picture is blurry! But I like it anyway!

Knotty Thursday! Messy Corset, VERY Neat Homework!

I'll have to go back and retry this corset sometime! It's meant to be a quick release design, but I just wasn't in a tutorial-watching mood. Still had a wonderful time of course!

And THIS treasure really aced his hishi karada homework! Today was a day of getting texted BEAUTIFUL photos.

Knotty Thursday! A Stitch, A Loop, a Hitch!

Hooray for this tutorial! I've been starting a new round of (depression/anxiety/family insurrectionsists, etc) therapy work, and yesterday's session with a new therapist had me feeling productively drained and a little jangled--I wasn't sure if I was gonna get to the happy rope place! (So may of these posts start out that way, huh? why are Wednesdays always a LOT?) I thought I might just try the alpine loop and call it a day!

Getting it right was so satisfying, so I kept going with the cow hitch "clasp":

And by the time I got that one right, I was unsurprisingly ready to change into the pretty bra and give the whole thing a whirl! It's supposed to go all the way down, but I felt like I'd learned enough for one night!

Knotty Thursday: Chain Stitch Harness! And! The Shy One Gets an A+!

First, a Knotty Thursday moment of sadness: Mr. Adorkable told me on Tuesday evening, a couple hours before our planned third date, that he wasn't feeling a connection. I declined his offer to be regular friends (Probably unfairly, my brain was like "Not trying to be this guy's Fat Friend.") and devoted a good chunk of the night to sobbing, asking pals for good vibes, and talking things through with The Shy One. So I guess it's really TWO A-pluses for The Shy One this post!

Pretty soon I'll write a post called "The Goodbye Boys," but til then, there are victories to report!

Because I'd assigned this tutorial to The Shy One for his chain stitch lesson, I decided to try it myself. I learned so much! Not only did I make a supercute harness, I also did a clove hitch correctly exactly once!

AND I learned how to do a one-strand braid! You can kind of see it mixed into the bottom middle of the harness. I had just the LOVELIEST night with myself.

In other loveliness news, I tested The Shy One on his square knot and overhand knot last weekend, and he did perfectly! I'm so proud!

Back to the Nude Beach, Part One

A few weeks ago, The Shy One texted me on the way to The Nude Beach, and just picturing his cute little butt there convinced me it’s past time to try and go back!

I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be the nudist I once was. Until yesterday, the last time I walked around naked outdoors was my ill-fatedsecond visit to The Sparkly Festival of Awesomeness, but a LOT of things have changed/regenerated since then. I'm not out here looking for a husband, that's for sure!

Even still, I knew that in the course of this 2022 beach trip I might find myself feeling too vulnerable, raw, overexposed. So I planned myself detailed during- and aftercare. I packed glitter sunscreen and spray sunscreen, lots of good snacks, iced coffee, two different beach books. I brought lots of tampons because OF COURSE this day coincided with a rogue perimenopause superperiod.

I even put grapefruit-scented face wipes and cotton candy lip balm in a cooler in the car for before the drive home. I was well-loved and well-cared-for on this riskier-than-usual self-date, that’s for sure.

I got a little lost at first, looping around the state park where they keep The Nude Beach. My GPS was like, no thanks, but I eventually figured it out. The walk from the parking lot to the beach wasn’t as long as I remembered. The sky was perfectly blue and decorated with very fancy clouds.

When I got there and claimed a spot (A little too far from the water, it was CROWDED) there they were, the dear, dear bodies, even more beautiful than I remembered them. Every category of human and every body type. The proud penises and the shy ones. All kinds of cute boobs in various states of tan-line-or-not. Enough adorable butts for Tina Belcher’s whole entire the right number of boys for me is more lifetime.

The tattoos winding across backs and down arms and curling around sweet ankles. The fat hips. The drape and spryness of age. The chaste affection in all kinds of constellations. The boldness and ease—yes please.

Knotty Thursday: Good Girl, So Pretty

It's taking me FOREVER to write about my second first date with The Song Sender, but spoiler alert, he is now a very nice dom who knows how to praise! Superswoon!

And he's lovely text company, sexting and otherwise. Last night, rope practice was extra fun because I was showing off for him. I chose this mermaid tie because I'm practicing to bind his arms with it, but he insists that's not going to happen.

Gold star to him for making my hot rope time hotter, what a good sweet boy. And gold star to me, he's right about the pretty!

A Magical Movie Self-Date

Last Saturday when I was planning my self-date night to go see Downton Abbey: A New Era, I knew there were plenty of movie theaters with parking lots, with big cozy seats, with pretty good mojitos. But I wanted to go to The Artsy Theater, my favorite.

It was the one where I sobbed a whole lifetime at the end of Boyhood not long after one of my cats passed away. The one where I saw Her and decided I should break up with the boyfriend who existed only on Twitter, then put off doing that for a while longer. It was where I took comfort in the absurd romance of The French Dispatch while I was getting over The Good Boy.

(It was also where I was subjected to a Woody Allen trailer while awaiting The French Dispatch—why does such a thing even still exist? What the heck, Artsy Theater?!)

But! They keep the Junior Mints in the freezer there, and they have so many flavors of hot chocolate, which I never try, because let’s be honest I need coffee to stay up past 9:30, especially in the dark.

So I guess the main swoon in this story is for the theater itself, but when I walked in a little early for my 9:20 movie there was The Song Sender, looking exactly as he had in 2011 when he said goodbye.

“I’ve seen you on every dating app!” I blurted out, because if I’m going to live in a romcom I’m going to bring the awkward.

I had though. The last time I’d seen him, on Feeld, he was even in my “likes you” folder, with his girlfriend right there in the profile with him. The Song Sender, who’d dumped me ostensibly about monogamy, had been brought to the poly team, maybe by this nice lady I should’ve snooped more about before I sent him to the left. I thought he would probably be too rough for me these days, but the update and the “like” gave me a nonzero amount of joy.

Anyway, back to the movies, I went over and sat down next to him, and my body didn’t think he seemed too rough at all. I felt cozy and oriented, both like no time had passed and like forever had. I caught a little whiff of the smell of him and it gave me a sense of surety and happiness. I sure wasn’t woozy or helpless the way I’d been back in my 2011-and-headed-towards-divorce apartment with him.

It took me a few minutes of being fairly inappropriate before he told me he was at work and therefore couldn’t tell me every detail of his adventures like I’d asked. I still showed him my hidden photos folder with some of my rope creations, and he unsurprisingly liked them.

As I was going into the movie, he snapped a selfie of the two of us because his girlfriend wanted to know who this girl was who was showing him pictures. I gave him my number, which felt both like a crazy thing to do and the most natural thing in the world. Whether as a friend or as a…whatever, he was missing from me and now he isn’t.

The movie was perfect, of course, and so was the rest of my date with myself. I walked a dreamy few blocks through the historic district to my favorite bus route, which I love even more than I love The Artsy Theater. When I walked from my bus stop to home, the moon was almost full and big in the sky. The flowering trees were giving off their late-night smells. I saw my first lightning bug of the season.

That walk from the bus stop made me sure that whatever happens with any character, past, present, or future, it’s within my power to make this a Summer of Romance for myself. So in the name of the Dowager Countess and the first firefly of the season, that’s exactly what I resolve to do.

Knotty Thursday: Woven Corset and I Heart Dating Myself!

I had a very hot night with myself (Some important strategically-placed knots definitely aren't in the picture!) but the most special moment happened as I was turning off Downton Abbey and heading upstairs with my Complete Book of Knots and a half-finished glass of wine. A thought, clear as a bell: "I love you." Directed at myself!

Dating myself is often a tangle of frustrations and impatience, but it's beautiful to have the self-love proclaimed so clearly! Especially given that my brain isn't always cooperative with the good thoughts. This was so real and sincere, it felt like a big milestone!

I started from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoZhA9Xd6Rs and I think I did a pretty good job! The weaving could've been much prettier, but I started to have trouble concentrating toward the end.

And! I had a lovely and sweet at-least-a-friend to text the photos to after! I'll tell you his nickname once we meet in person.

So yeah. Though my heart is still full of The Shy Ones, I'm happy to be talking to a few potential rope pals. Where there is cuteness, there is hope.
